SASA Residential Advisor
The Summer Academic Success Academy (SASA) Residential Advisor (RA) supports the residential and community experience of incoming first-year students participating in SASA. SASA RAs are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging living environment while enforcing residence hall policies, responding to student needs, and collaborating with Peer Leaders and program staff to promote student success and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with resident check-in and check-out procedures
- Host weekly floor or building meetings to promote meaningful interaction and share program updates
- Conduct daily building walk-throughs to identify facility issues and submit reports for resolution
- Complete room inspections to ensure compliance with residence hall and program policies
- Respond to emergencies within the residence hall and assist whenever present in the building
- Enforce residence hall regulations to promote resident safety and hall security
- Enforce Coppin State University student conduct expectations and SASA rules and regulations
- Conduct nightly building checks to ensure conduct policies are not being violated
- Complete weekly reports, departmental paperwork, and assist with administering surveys as needed
- Attend weekly Saturday outings with Peer Leaders and SASA participants (each RA assigned one Saturday)
- Attend mandatory weekly staff meetings
- Collaborate with Peer Leaders and program staff to support student engagement and community building
- Complete other duties as assigned by SASA program staff
Eligibility & Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Willingness to live on campus for the duration of the program
- Commitment to student success and engagement
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Resident Advisor (RA)
- Previous experience as a SASA Peer Leader or prior participation as a SASA student/attendee
- Experience in peer mentoring, tutoring, residence life, or student leadership
- Familiarity with campus resources and support services

Additional Information
This position requires mandatory participation in two (2) weeks of training prior to the start of the SASA program. Evening and weekend responsibilities are required during the program.
